Project Overview
The Vision Behind Vlad III Bucharest Airport
Vlad III Bucharest International Airport is a next-generation greenfield development positioned to become the most advanced aviation gateway in Southeast Europe. Built on 2,500–3,000 hectares south of Bucharest, the project integrates a world-class airport, a multimodal cargo hub, and a connected smart-city ecosystem — AeroCity.
Designed together with global leaders such as Surbana Jurong and Scott Brownrigg, the project unlocks critical capacity missing in the Bucharest region and responds to rapidly growing aviation demand, supply-chain expansion, and new international route opportunities.
This airport will serve as a catalyst for long-term regional development, attracting airlines, logistics operators, global technology companies, healthcare institutions, and sustainable-energy partners.

Why This Project Matters
Current infrastructure in Bucharest is at full capacity, with OTP unable to scale fast enough to meet anticipated passenger and cargo growth. According to Eurocontrol, regional aviation is entering a sustained growth cycle through the 2030s. This creates a unique opportunity for a new, efficient, future-ready airport to position Bucharest as a strategic European hub.

Phase 1 (2026–2029): Airport Activation
Initial operational capacity: 15–20 million passengers per year
and 100,000+ tonnes cargo annually
